Working for Us

It's not for everybody. If you’re interested in a fast-paced small-team environment with ambitious assignments, demanding standards, and an expectation for curiosity and creativity, you may be in the right place. We seek diversity — in language, background, ethnicity, skill-set, even taste and style. We want budding leaders, thinkers and problem-solvers, people captivated by more than our generous benefits package. Changing the world — even a little bit — isn’t easy. We need people talented enough to break the mold.

And one other job requirement from which no one is exempt: Each employee must be nice. Weird, we know. We’re like that.

Front-End Web Developer (Full-time)

(Tallahassee Office)

Salter>Mitchell is seeking a web designer/front-end web developer to join our team in Tallahassee, FL. We are a 30-person national behavior change marketing, public relations and advertising firm based in Tallahassee, FL, with offices in Alexandria, VA, and Orlando, FL.

We don't care how much experience you have as long as you can do the job. So, what is the job? We are looking for a front-end designer/developer with an eye for details, design and usability. The ideal candidate should be as comfortable creating beautiful mockups in Photoshop, as they are at implementing their designs with HTML & CSS - with a dash of jQuery!

We are a small team so everyone wears a lot of hats -- while the main focus will be front-end development on any given day you could also be strategizing a new project, writing back-end code, managing a project with a client, or running a training on how to manage one of our sites.

Our web team works in an open source environment on the LAMP stack. We are always inventing new features and building complex products -- you must be willing to learn new technologies as needed (and know when to tell us we are crazy).

Required Skills:

  • Fluent in HTML / CSS
  • Experienced with Adobe Creative Suite
  • Experienced with Content Management Systems (Wordpress, Drupal, etc.)
  • An appreciation for user experience and interaction design, the devil is in the details.
  • Communication skills

Would also be nice to know if you have experience in any of the below:

  • Working with Twitter Bootstrap
  • Javascript and jQuery
  • Familiarity with PHP and MySQL
  • Linux as a Desktop
  • SEO techniques in markup
  • Social Media Integration
  • Responsive Design

And one other job requirement from which no one is exempt: Each employee must be nice. Weird, we know. We’re like that.
